Credit for Attendance
VSIAS is an education provider for a number of credentialing and academic organizations. VSIAS exercises its ethical responsibility to ensure that contact hours are earned fairly and honestly by awarding contact hours for session attendance only if an individual attends a minimum of 80 percent of that session. VSIAS Faculty can not make exceptions to this policy and will take required professional action in cases of misrepresentation.

Description:
This will be a presentation that touches on the history of addiction treatment, (briefly) going back to 1800s, to improvements in the standards of care through the last 50 years, to new treatments that will bring innovation, access, and hope to people suffering from addiction.

Learning Objective:

  • Explain the historical evolution of addiction treatment to understand how past models inform today’s evidence‑based clinical practices.

  • Evaluate emerging innovations in assessment, pharmacotherapy, and psychosocial interventions that can enhance treatment effectiveness and patient engagement.

  • Explain how clinical collaboration and care coordination by integrating interdisciplinary, patient‑centered approaches that support long‑term recovery and reduce treatment barriers.

  • List two emerging technologies or treatments that have been found to have significant potential in advancing addiction care.
